Creato più per il diletto deinosti due protagonisti che avevano osservato la beata festosità dei bambini, riproponendola qui con la massima esattezza. I versi sono stati tradotti in italiano da  Francesco Saba Sardi che ha curato il volume per l'edizione italiana e le tavole sono commentate da  Erik Dal, il massimo studio del'opera di Andersen.
