Mit an Bord war der renommierte Botaniker Nils Johann Andersson, der die Fahrt für die Sammlung und Dokumentation neuer Forschungsdaten nutzen wollte. Er begleitete die Expedition unter anderem nach Honolulu, Tahiti, San Francisco, zu den Galapagos-Inseln und ans Kap der Guten Hoffnung und konnte auf der Reise viele botanische Entdeckungen verzeichnen. 1854 veröffentlichte er sein Reisetagbuch, das neben den Erkenntnissen für Anderssons Forschung auch eine genaue Schilderung der Schiffsreise und der Erfahrungen in den fernen Ländern enthält. Nachdruck der Originalausgabe.
