Translated by Alfred Allinson (originally for The Bodley Head) with an Introduction by André Maurois and illustrated by Jean Oberlé. Originally published in France in 1912 as Les dieux ont soif, the novel is set in France in 1793-1794 during the French Revolution, specifically during the Reign of Terror in Paris and the endless parade of victims to the guillotine. Full page color illustrations.
