Besides tables, the book also contains treatises on related astronomical topics. Both full-page copper engravings, that is, the frontispiece (Argoli's portrait) and engraved title, were made by Germain Audran (1631-1710). Illustrated with many diagrams (mostly woodcuts; there is a copper engraving of the Moon's surface on the unnumbered plate); the title page features a vignette (printer's device; copper engraving), other pages are decorated with large headpieces and initials (woodcuts). Antiqua typesetting. A complete, well-preserved copy. /// Parchment binding with leather label, raised bands, blind embossing, leather strings, metal clasps and coloured edges; hardback, [20]+587+[4] pp., 1 plate, 8° (17.5 x 23 cm), parchment slightly worn, yellowed/discoloured and rubbed, edges slightly stained, top edge slightly rubbed (and some leaves slightly chipped), spine slightly cracked (between frontispiece and engraved title), endpapers yellowed, with a few traces of dust, frontispiece and engraved title slightly worn and yellowed, some leaves have tiny bookworm traces or tiny perforation (text not affected), other signs of wear and age are very rare (small brown spots, tiny chips etc.), condition: very good Book Language/s: Latin.
Original engraving ( Paris , end of the 17th c.), contemporary imprint. 19,5 x 14 cm, 4 mm margins, mounted on paper. Good impression. (Italian mathematician, astronomer, astrologer;).
