Esemplare assai… fresco ed in ottimo stato di conservazione. La presente è una rara riedizione dell incunabolo del 1499 pubblicato da Paganino Paganini, il padre di Alessandro. L opera, un vero e proprio manuale per confessori intitolato Summa de casibus conscientiae ma più noto come Summa Angelica fu pubblicata originariamente nel 1486. In essa l Autore elaborò tutti gli argomenti discussi nella sua precedente trattatistica (specialmente nella Tractatio de contractibus e nella Tractatio de restitutionibus ) riscuotendo un enorme successo editoriale e divulgativo. La Summa rappresentò così un formidabile veicolo per la diffusione delle idee economiche di stampo francescano. Non in Adams né in Br. Libr. 8vo (cm. 15,7), 18 cc.nn., 458 cc. Frontespizio stampato in rosso. Letterine iniziali manoscritte in inchiostro bruno. Testo su due colonne.

The principal work of Angelo Carletti of Chivasso. His Summa contains 659 articles in alphabetical order forming the equivalent of a dictionary of moral theology. First…published in 1486. It was reprinted in 31 editions up to 1520, the year it was publicly burned by Martin Luther, who saw it as example of Catholic overreach. Minor spotting to rear board of vellum, but overall a very neat and clean vellum binding. A few instances of ink marginalia. Woodblock header at the start of the text. Woodblock printer's device at the end. Title page printed in red and black, with large initial with scene of the annunciation nestled amidst the large S. Titled the Summa de Casibus Conscientiae, and often called the Summa Angelica, after Angelo himself, contains 659 articles to constitute a 'theological dictionary.' First published in 1486, with many further editions until 1520, when it was burned by Martin Luther.This particular leaf, f. 252, starts out spicy, with the prescript for how to deal with confessions of carnal love and the sin of lust."Afterwards, you should question him about the sin of lust. And if he says that he sinned with a woman (if he is male), or a man (if she is female), you should only inquire first whether they were unmarried or married, related by blood or affinity, or in religious orders, so that you may know what kind of lust it was, and from this determine what sort of sin of lust it is that you are dealing with."If the carnal love was not in the 'appropriate vessel, ' just move on. Don't ask which vessel, just find out how often it took place, and if it started in the appropriate vessel. Could the sin haven been avoided? Did it happen in a church? If the sin was committed alone and voluntarily, the details you need are, "whether he desired to do evil with another person, or whether he made efforts toward such things, and who that person was-whether unmarried or related by kinship, etc."The rest of the passage is less sexy, but does direct you to the appropriate passages for dealing with those who have, for example, stolen from a shipwreck.
