To be published on 27th January 1958. salmon pink mottled cloth boards, very good, dustwrapper complete but price clipped and handled. with wear at extremes. Small semi-circular damp mark at front free endpapers, no other area affected and light, contents very clean. The work was published in 1939 and war stopped the author from producing a 2nd edition with revisions, then he had an untimely death, so the revision work taken over by his assistant at the Ministry of Food Dorothy Hollingsworth took a while to collect and collate. It covers the half century from the Tudor period to the modern era. Arthur Young, Defoe, Mrs Glasse and Smollett, through to Andre Simon are all used in the compilation. This might aid nutritionists and health workers in dealing with dietary issues?.
