Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book provides an account of the author's dismissal from his position as Greek language and literature professor at the University of the City of New York in 1851. The narrative provides a unique insight into the internal workings and governance of an academic institution in the mi…d-nineteenth century. The book explores themes of institutional politics, freedom of expression, academic freedom, and the importance of due process. The author's struggle to maintain discipline and enforce standards in his classroom amidst institutional resistance highlights the challenges faced by educators in balancing academic rigor with the expectations and behaviors of students. The significance of this book lies in its exploration of the tensions between institutional authority, academic freedom, and the pursuit of educational excellence. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
