Hard cover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: No dustjacket. Inscribed "To Antonia My Very Best Wishes Richard Weisman 9-22-2003". Richard Weisman was a high profile businessman, philanthropist, and art collector. Weisman's prescient eye allowed him to assemble a remarkable collection of masterworks that depict some of the 20th century's most important Pop icons and iconography. For Weisman, art represented an opportunity to explore the vast scope of human creativity, free from all constraints. Weisman began a lifetime of collecting with the purchase of his first piece of art: Roberto Matta's 1955 oil on canvas Early Urge. In the years that followed, Weisman steadily assembled not only an exceptional grouping of masterworks, but also a remarkable circle of friends. Weisman became renowned for entertaining athletes, actors, and artists at his homes with gatherings that welcomed a coterie of creatives from Peter Beard, Roy Lichtenstein, and Barnett Newman to Robert Rauschenberg, James Rosenquist, and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Hardcover. Condition: Like New. [Association copy, inscribed by Heide Hatry on half title page. A photograph taken by Hatry is included and inscribed. Hardcover. Good binding and cover. Minor shelf wear. Clean, unmarked pages. *Autographed by Heide Hatry.* Heide Hatry grew up on a pig farm in the south of Germany. She left home at the age of 15 to enroll in a sports school. She studied art at various German art schools and art history at the University of Heidelberg. She taught at a private art school for 15 years while simultaneously conducting an international business as an antiquarian bookseller. Hatry's serene scenes of flowers in her Not A Rose series are actually photographs of trompe l'oeil arrangements of the offal, sex organs, and other residues of deceased animals. Their simple compositions almost recall scientific illustrations, whose directed focus on the flowers' anatomy heightens their fragrant aroma and delicate beauty. Signed.

Published on the occasion of the 1999 exhibition Peter Beard: Fifty Years of Portraits, curated by Peter T. Tunney, at the Fahey/Klein Gallery, Los Angeles. Out of print. Very scarce. Fine. A Near Mint copy. From the publisher: "Throughout his remarkable life, photographer, naturalist, and raconteur Peter Beard has befriended and photographed some of the most prominent figures of our times. Portraiture is woven into the fabric of all of Beard's work, yet to date this relationship has never been carved out and explored. From his earliest attempts at expression as a child to the mania for travel and adventure that overtook Beard as a young man, and onward to Beard's most recent work on assignment, portraiture is a central thread of Beard's career. Beard's 'portraits,' however, rarely conform to the traditional format of this genre. Instead, they embody spontaneity, the moments shared with intimate friends, and the adventurous lives and experiences to which he has long been attracted. A vital chronicler of our times, he has created memorable images of such icons as Picasso, Francis Bacon, Karen Blixen, Andy Warhol, Truman Capote, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Salvador Dali, and Mick Jagger, along with the last great safari hunters, such as J.A. Hunter, Phillip Percival, and Cape-to-Cairo Grogan." Signed by Author.

HADEN-GUEST, Anthony Signed by the author on title page [404] pp. William Morrow and Company, Inc. 1997 First Edition 9 1/2" x 6 1/2" A riveting memoir of disco-era nightlife and the outrageous goings-on behind the doors of New York City s most famous and exclusive nightclub In the disco days and nights of New York City in the 1970s and 1980s, the place to be was Studio 54. Andy Warhol, Liza Minnelli, and Bianca Jagger were among the nightly assortment of A-list celebrity regulars consorting with New York s young, wild, and beautiful. Studio 54 was a place where almost nothing was taboo, from nonstop dancing and drinking beneath the coke-dusted neon moon to drugs and sex in the infamous unisex restrooms to the outrageous money-skimming activities taking place in the office of the studio s flamboyant co-owner Steve Rubell. Author Anthony Haden-Guest was there on opening night in 1977 and over the next decade spent many late nights and early mornings basking in the strobe-lit wonder. But The Last Party is much more than a fascinating account of the scandals, celebrities, crimes, and extreme excesses encouraged within the notorious Manhattan nightspot. Haden-Guest brings an entire era of big-city glitz and unapologetic hedonism to breathtaking life, recalling a vibrant New York night world at once exhilarating and dangerous before the terrible, sobering dawn of the age of AIDS.
