Antoine Crégut (d. 1681) or in Latin: Antonius Cregutus, was a Huguenot, pastor and professor of theology in Die, in the Kingdom of France. In 1679, a synod in Die decided to appoint him as professor of theology at the Protestant academy of Die. The opponent of the appointment was Alexandre d Yse (Latin: Dizius). D'yse had previously been a minister in Grenoble and was a professor in Die. In Geneva, d Yse had the printing presses that were printing Crégut's book Revelator stopped. D Yse claimed that the content was theologically dangerous. In the meantime, Crégut had become rector of the Protestant academy of Die. Crégut demanded that the professors of Geneva evaluate the book. Three propositions from the book were condemned in Geneva. This was the starting signal for d Yse to start a smear campaign against Crégut. In Die, d Yse and Crégut had to debate. The subject was the dogma of Adam s original sin. Roman clergy were present at the debate in the Protestant academy. D Yse was able to get on board with the Roman clergy so much that Crégut barely had a chance to speak. The dispute came to an end and the printing presses continued to print Revelator. With the Edict of Fontainebleau (1685) proclaimed by the Sun King, the bishop had the Protestant academy of Die closed. First Edition! RAREE1661HQRA - 03/18 RAREE1661QHPB - 01/25 - HKREV383.
