Add to basketOriginal engraving with Brow, on the shore of the Solway, cut by J. Appleton after a drawing by D. O. Hill. The farm buildings under a clouded sky, the burn and the flock of sheep close a view opening towards the estuary. Hand-colored. It comes from The Land of Burns (Blackie & Son, Glasgow), a series of views and portraits illustrating the life and work of Robert Burns. Brow Well was the spa the poet went to, already ill, in the last days of his life, which gives this view a particular biographical interest. Medium: Hand-colored copper engraving. Artist / after: David Octavius Hill. Engraver: J. Appleton. Date: 1846. Source: The Land of Burns, Blackie & Son, Glasgow. Dimensions: 9.5 x 6.3 in (24.2 x 16.1 cm). Condition: Fair condition. Yellowish stains in the left margin and below the image, with overall toning of the paper; the image remains clean. Técnica: Grabado calcográfico coloreado a mano.
