    Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. SECOND EDITION circa 1930, 140 x 100 mm, 5½ x 4 inches, red matt boards, decorated and lettered black, colour plate mounted on upper cover, colour illustrated endpapers, 95 pages printed 1 side only, 24 pretty colour plates. A little boy dreams of adventures with his hobby horse and finds a house full of cats. Small splits neatly stuck at tail of spine, slight wear and tiny splits at head of spine, corners slightly rubbed, a horrid child has scraped the face of Towlocks on the upper cover with the point of a compass or some such (this plate repeated inside), neat inscription on blank leaf before half-title, contents otherwise bright and clean. A very good copy. First published in the Dumpy series by Grant Richards in 1903. When Grant Richards filed for bankruptcy in 1905, the publishing rights to the Dumpy books were sold to Chatto and Windus who reissued this title in their Sambo series, our title being No. 9.     FIRST EDITION dated 1903, 12mo, 125 x 77 mm, 5 x 3 inches, green striped cloth, 94 pages, 24 pretty colour plates. A little boy dreams of adventures with his hobby horse. Expertly recased and restitched, spine very slightly darkened, small light stain to top corner of upper cover, very slight wear to head of spine and corners, endpapers slightly foxed, no inscriptions, three 10 mm (½") closed margin tears, neatly repaired, otherwise contents nice.
