The author's plan for pulling the United States out of the ongoing depression consisted of three main ideas: 1). The discovery of large new sources of gold; 2). Continuous expansion of credit money on a practically stationary gold base; 3). The international remonetization of silver. He felt that the first two were unworkable, or could not be implemented quickly enough, and therefore advocated for a plan that would have silver take its place alongside gold as a primary money. Unfortunately, nothing seems to have pulled us out of the Great Depression except World War II.
