Bergwerks Bibliothek", (Royal Mining Library) with their two small stamps on the title page. Ex-library: paper call number on bottom spine, and aside from these two bits there are no other markings. The binding is tight, the book strong and squared, and the text is very fresh and crisp. GOOD/VERY GOOD copy. [++] The De la Rive looks to be a superior recent history of electricity at the beginning of the Faraday/ekectromagnetic induction era. The article is the longest that I have seen in this journal and among the top 1% of all articles I have seen published in scientific journals. The papers appear on (vol 52) pp 225-264 and 404-447 and (vol 53) pp 70-125 and 170-227 plus "Appendice a l'Equisse Historique de l'Electricite, relatif principalement aux proprietes des aimans, au magnetisme terrestre et aux sources naturelles de l'Electricite et du Magnetisme", pp 315-352 for a TOTAL of 233pp. A separately-printed version of this work appeared in (later, I presume) 1833 under the same title and runs 239ppI see via a colleague's offering of this volume that there is an index that is about 4pp and looks to be very usefulthere is an index to this work in the appendix section in the version I'm offering but it is only two pages long. (De la Rive would also publish a massive 3-volume treatise on electricity later in his career in 1854. At the time of publication the authora very busy manwas also editor of this same journal.).
