The inscription is to [Edward] Porter who wrote and published a bibliography of mountaineering books in 1959. Porter had one of the best private collections of mountaineering books at the time and was apparently an inspiration for Singer. The book is in very good condition with no previous owner marks or writing other than Singer's signed inscription, some foxing on fore-edge and on title page and other preliminary pages (no other pages have foxing), no tears, clean, no crease marks, solid binding.
