Light-hearted sketches describing life in India, as well as its scenery and natural history. Has chapters on India's birds, hens, parrots, mynas, mungoose [mongoose], ants, monkeys, hunting of the soko; elephants, cats, sparrows, bears, wolves, dogs, rats, creatures of the sea, gamins, hara-kiri, etc. At the end are six pages of opinions from the London and Indian Press Original maroon cloth.
