Burgundy cloth covered boards with gilt titles to the front cover and spine, page edges speckled red. Size octavo, 194 pages including index, then followed by a 32 page publisher's catalogue and then 2 pages trade advertisements printed on yellow paper. Condition good, corners and spine ends rubbed, a 3cm section of the cloth including the title is missing from the head of the spine, stamp of the Institute of Civil Engineers to some pages else contents very clean throughout. This copy was presented prior to publication by the author to the Institute of Civil Engineers. A handwritten letter from the author to the institute presenting the book, and dated 23rd July 1897 is tipped in to the book between the front paste-down and end-paper. This is a comprehensive treatise concerning the extensive use of the potentiometer system of electrical measurement. A notable contribution to the subject compiled chiefly from articles written by Fishers over a number of years. Inscribed by Author(s).
