Please note that Eniwetok was occupied beginning in 1944 by the U.S. Following a series of battles there with the Japanese army and navy. Between 1948 and 1958 Eniwetok Atoll was tge centerpiece (if you will) of nuclear arms testing by the U.S. In the Pacific, with more than 43 nuclear tests conducted there. RARE.
