Auf beide Briefe habe ich keine Antwort erhalten, und ohne lange nach einem Ausdruck zu suchen, der dies Betragen verdient, will ich Ihnen hiermit… nur anzeigen, daß ich diese Gedichtesammlung an eine sehr bekannte Buchhandlung übergeben habe [?]" - Die Erstausgabe seiner Gedichte erschien 1799 in der Hofbuchhandlung bei Karl & Comp. in Osnabrück. Eine neue Ausgabe brachte Wilmans in Frankfurt am Main 1805 heraus. Derselbe publizierte dann auch 1808, wie gewünscht, eine "zweite, vermehrte Auflage". Der Literaturkritiker Menzel charakterisierte den Schreiber treffend mit folgenden Worten: "Wieland's geistvollster Nachahmer in Wien [?] Er schrieb Gedichte, Schauspiele, Erzählungen und Romane, die alle den Weltmann verrathen, der an die leichtesten Sitten gewöhnt ist." ?
