Elle est éditée par l'Oeuvre de Moralisation par l'Exemple, qui en est à sa 37e année, mais dont nous ne trouvons quasiment rien. Saussois a publié les mêmes types d'ouvrages sur le comte de Falloux (1886), le cardinal Guibert (1887), le cardinal Donnet (1888), le général-baron Ambert (1890), Alfred Mame (1893). Exemplaire de présent portant en lettres dorées sur la garde moirée : « Hommage très-respectueux de l'auteur le chevalier du Saussois du Jonc à Madame Heine ». Il s'agit peut-être d'Amélie Miltenberger (1832-1915), épouse du banquier Michel Heine qui fut régent de la Banque de France de 1890 à 1904.
