Published by Young Austria, Austrian Youth House, London, 1944, 215X138mm. 8Pp. These seem to be transcripts (unknown if these are the full or partial renderings of the boradcast) of 12 radio broadcastswhich are not in chronological order--beginning with 6 June 1944. The range of action is very varied and always intense, calling on the youth to join partisans, to take up arms, to sabotage Nazi-controlled works, and frequently call upon "women and girls" to join the fight, joining the partisans, and rendering support, including taking up arms. [++] Original wrappers. GOOD condition. [++] Interesting Provenance: Library of the OSS (Office of Strategic Services, precursor to the CIA), and then the Library of Congress, both with their rubber stamps. There is also a card catalog sleeve at the rear wrapper, complete with borrower's card (with three names entered). [WorldCat locates only 3 copies: Duke, Warwick, NYPL.] The first entry is titled "The Second Front" and we read of a call to action of partisans and likely-partisans: "Young Austrians, you are waiting to be called up in the Hitler-army. This means death and cripples. Flee from the death army of the Nazis. Fight your way with your weapons through to the partisans. Discuss it in groups and then go together. Disappear from the munitions factory: Organise in the youth fighting groups of the Freedom Front. Girls do not think that you cannot take part, The partisans need nurses, scouts who can help to keep communications. There are also. patriotic girls who fight with a gun. What you learnt in the compulsory working camps (Arbeitsdienst) will help you now, with, the partisans. Go to it, if you are a boy or a girl forward for the struggle for freedom for a free and independent Austria!") [++] The other radio talk ledes include: "Life of a Young Parrtisan" stating "Not all partisan groups are happy to have women and girls with them. If more women and girls were brave enough to share our rough life, our work and fight would be eased tremendously.") Also, "Take Advantage of Air-Raids" (reporting on the demolition of firefighting apparatus so that the bombed factories would burn to the ground). "Austrian Youngster are also Guilt", reading about what "Nazis do to our young people" being "a boy from the Hitler Youth was decorated.because he had killed two Russian laborers who wanted to flee.two days later he again stopped two Ostarbeiter and shot them. In this way they educate the youth in cruelty.there is only one thing for the Austrian youth to do. To rid themselves of these beasts who soil the name of Austrian youth." "Save Your Lives" ("Young Austrians, if you want to save yourself stop working for the Nazis"), "Last News Flashes", "Austria has a Good Name", "Remembering the First of May". Also, "Officers Fled!" ("Austrians in the German Army! Sabotage the war effort and thus force the Nazis to bring this war to an end, before all Austrians are sent to their death."). "Patriotic Deeds!, "Soldiers, We Need You!" (calling on Austrian soldiers in the German army to defect); and "A Peasant Writes to the Partisans" (".Partisans, you may keep on sending your wounded to my house.whenever you are in need, come to me.").…
