      Limited large paper edition of which only 150 copies were printed (this one is unnumbered), illustrated with drawings by J. A. Symington made expressly for this work. The book consists of historical recollections of three popular North Yorkshire valleys and their inhabitants. Includes 47 black and white illustrations including the frontispiece, most of which are within the text, pp. xvi, 17 - 280, [2]. First Edition Quarter-bound in red morocco with brown grained cloth boards, gilt vignette and titles to the front board, gilt titles to the spine. Top edge gilt, others uncut. Quarto, 30 x 23 cm In very good condition, there are some small light stains to the front board, spine is rubbed and darkened with signs of repairs, preliminaries foxed but pages are otherwise clean, binding is firm and square.
