Unbound. Condition: Very Good. Illustrated lithographic broadside. Measuring 14" x 10½". Printed within a decorative border. Completed in manuscript. Dated Oct. 27, 1892 and signed by Almon C. Bacone, the founder and first President of Indian University, Oklahoma's first college (now Bacone College, a private tribal college). A…few small patches of light foxing, very good or better. Chartered by the Muscogee-Creek Nation in 1881, the purpose of the school was to provide a Christian education for Native Americans. By 1893 there were 703 students in a system of one college and six preparatory schools in the Cherokee, Creek, Choctaw, Seminole, Wichita, and Kiowa nations. This broadside is made out to "Mrs. C. Journeycake" who contributed "towards an endowment fund for Indian University that shall equal in amount the Number of Aborigines of our Country ." Scarce. No copies in *OCLC*.
