8vo [22 x 15 cm]; xii, [13] - 258 pp, frontis, photo plates, index, map endpapers. original cloth with title lettering on spine, dj (chipped at foot of spine with loss of one letter, not price clipped), small stain on lower spine but clean and fine in a very good dust jacket. Pearn travelled to Yemen, South West Arabia, in search of the lost cities of the Queen of Sheba, and provides a fascinating account of the people, cities, conditions, in many previously unexplored and unmapped areas, being the first non-native to reach some of the locations. The appendix relates his exploration to biblical events and includes a letter from S. John Philby on the difficulties of travelling in this area. A picture of this book is available on request.
