Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Not a book but a 12-inch, 33-1/3 rpm "High Fidelity" (mono) vinyl record album, UAL 4114, near-mint vinyl in a very-good-plus cardboard jacket (marked down from "near-mint" thanks to faint PON in blue ballpoint near top of front panel.) Jacket rear panel shows four B&W photos of Sean Connery, each with an individual damsel, three of whom look spunkier than his co-star here, Daniela Bianchi, the Nembutal Nazimova. The largest image shows Bond with Martine Beswick, costumed as "Zora the fiery Gypsy girl." Cover designer Jack Kaufman clearly grasped immediately who would have been the more energetic choice. Beswick went on to grapple with more prominent roles in "Thunderball" (1965), "One Million Years B.C." (1966, opposite Raquel Welch), and "Prehistoric Women (1967) (a k a "Slave Girls of the White Rhinoceros"), while Bianchi's brief film career after this entry was to prove . . . not terribly memorable. Reduced from $22.

First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. Barry Bart (illustrator). 1st Edition. Aida, The Story of Verdi's Greatest Opera was adapted by Robert Lawrence and illustrated by Barry Bart. The book was published by Grosset & Dunlap, Publishers in 1938 and does appear to be a First Edition though it is not specifically stated as such. It was copyrighted by The Metropolitan Opera Guild, Inc. and is "The Authorized Edition. It is 7 3/8" by 9 3/8" and has 44 pages with a Suggested Recordings list on the last page and both black-and-white and color illustrations throughout the book. Though it appears to be a children's book, I do not believe that was the intent. I believe the book was published to help ANY opera buff understand the story behind the opera. It is NOT an ex-library copy but was once a gift to a younger girl and a previous owner pasted a card holder on to the back paste down end page and "organized" her collection. A nice little bit of nostalgia. It's in good condition (BUT the page opposite the title page has been removed)and has no dust jacket. I'm fairly certain that none of the books in the series ever did have dust jackets. Thank you!
