Ex-Justus Liebig University Tropical Institute copy with small label to the cover and ink stamps to the ffep overstamped "Ungultig". Wraps otherwise good, marked, and interiors very good. Rare with Worldcat locating 9 institutions for this edition (OCLC 663623115, 74425710), and 3 of the 1st edition. The 2nd edition was also published in Arabic translation, and includes further improvements and corrections (p5). Noting that most farmers in the Yemen Arab Republic (North Yemen) relied on traditional techniques and struggled with water availability, this multi-agency guide was the first attempt of its kind to assist farmers to improve their methods and increase productivity. It was coordinated by Alexander Bartelink (BASICO), with contributions from M. Watt (Agricultural Officer, FAO), Mr Dorman, and T. Milroy. Sections include general information about the country; general agriculture; and practical advice by region (the Northern Uplands, Southern Uplands and Tihama) on several crops, pest and disease control, livestock, mechanisation, and related projects in YAR.
