Rebound in modern green pebbled cloth spine and board corners; lighter green boards; bright gilt stamping to spine (although unmarked this rebinding probably done by Greenwood, Mississippi'…s Norris Bookbinding Company as it certainly reflects their exterior aesthetic and impeccably firm stitching). Toning and dark stains to text block edges. New endpapers and flyleaves. Some foxing and occasional slight toning to leaves; pencil ownership inscription dated March 1858 on original second front flyleaf preceding frontis. Tissue guard sheet between frontispiece and title page; foldout color map between pages vi-vii; b/w illustrations on paged leaves. Binding is firm.
