Softcover. Condition: Good. 24pp stapled booklet in pale blue light card covers. 8vo. Covers are a little rubbed and toned and edges, somewhat faded, rounded on corners and spine ends. Text block edges a little toned and softened. Internally neat, clean and tight. Reproductions of three memoranda secretly circulated within the British Government by the then Secretary of State for India regarding his opposition to the 1917 Balfour Declaration (which committed the British Government to the establishment of a Jewish State). Montagu, himself a practicing Jew, considering Zionism a 'mischievous political creed' and believed that the Balfour Declaration would promote and encourage anti-semitism worldwide. The documents were released by the British Government in 1966. .
