Soft cover. Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. Original vintage menu from the historic Bayerischer Donisl, one of Munich's traditional beer taverns located at the Alte Hauptwache (Old Main Guardhouse) near Marienplatz. This example is a dated daily specials menu issued for Saturday July 7, Sunday July 8, and Monday July 9, 1973. The menu lists traditional Bavarian tavern cuisine and German regional dishes typical of Munich beer halls in the mid-20th century. Menu includes a variety of specialties such as: ? Ham noodles with egg ? Veal cream ragout with dumplings ? Serbian bean stew with pork ? Brain omelet with parsley potatoes ? Spaghetti Bolognese ? Grilled beef heart with fries and butter beans ? Kidney skewers with saffron rice ? Kassler (smoked pork chop) in aspic ? Cream schnitzel with pasta ? Paprika schnitzel ? Pork knuckle with dumpling ? Rump steak Tyrolean style ? Piccata Milanese with spaghetti ? Veal liver Berlin style ? Veal steak Paris style ? Donisl salad platter with egg ? Homemade farmer's snack platter with fried potatoes Additional sections include pan dishes (Pfannengerichte) and egg dishes (Eiergerichte). A printed note states that service and tax are included in the prices. The menu also displays period pricing for dishes in Deutsche Marks, providing an interesting snapshot of Munich restaurant culture in the early 1970s. Bayerischer Donisl is one of Munich's historic beer houses with origins dating back to the 18th century, making this piece a collectible example of Bavarian restaurant ephemera and food history.
