Two black-and-white photographic frontispiece of Marx, and Engels captioned with facsimiles of their respective signature. Lightest edgewear to the cloth extremities, contents without blemish with bright, clean, and unmarked pages and firm, sound binding; near fine and housed in original, unclipped, dustjacket showing chips and short closed tears along the edges of the panels (now housed in protective mylar cover). Overall, very good+.

BEAN (1903-1977), specializzato nella Turchia classica, era figlio del botanico e curatore dei Kew Gardens di Londra. Formato a Cambridge,durante la Guerra fu reclutato per insegnare inglese a Smirne e percorse la Turchia dal 1943 al 1971.per scoprire e registrare siti archeologici, e redasse una serie di guide archeologiche commissionate dall'edittore Ernest Benn. COOK (1910-1994), formato a Cambridge, poi alla British School di Atene, studioso dei vasi greci, in guerra era nell'Intelligence e fu paracadutato in Grecia per la Resistenza. Scavò l'antica Smyrna; negli anni '50 svolse ricerche esaustive con Bean in Caria (Anatoloia occidentale), scoprendo rivelatori resti micenei e submicenei a Mileto ecc. Importante per la definizione delle aree d'influenza della civiltà micenea.
