A propos : George Catlin (1796-1872) avait organisé à Paris en 1845 une exposition de 500 peintures auxquelles étaient associées les démonstrations de danses rituelles de 12 indiens Ioway que Catlin avait fait venir. Le catalogue reprend les réactions de George Sand, Delacroix et Baudelaire à cet événement. .
