Born in Ireland, Taylor relocated to England where he made a name for himself before immigrating to America in 1736. Settling in Pennsylvania, Taylor became heavily involved in the iron industry, operating forges and furnaces in Chester and Bucks counties. In 1761 he purchased a stone house in Easton, Northampton County, where he took up residence for the remainder of his life. Taylor was among the signers of the Declaration of Independence, which he signed while residing in Durham Township, Bucks County, where he was managing Coventry Forge and Warwick Furnace. Taylor's family history, business dealings, and homes throughout Pennsylvania are explored with the aid of new evidence, shedding light on the life of this notable Founding Father. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
