Condition: Good. Hard cover, no dust jacket. Undated but from contents about 1906. Red cloth with impressed gilt and white design to front and black impress of city gate to rear, gilt lettering to spine. Spine faded and tanned with chipping to ends but gilt bright. 134pp, black and white advertising to pastedowns. Full page map of the Centrality of the city of Canterbury, black and white illustrations and wonderful advertising throughout some full page including a very nice advert for 'The Seasalter & Ham Oyster Fishery Co Ltd. Whitstable. Black and white plate of Canterbury Cathedral from the South-West has been carefully taped to spine fold of page 10, 2 pages of newsprint from The Times of February 14, 1930 stuck to spine fold of page 134. This has caused yellowing to the corresponding area of page 134. A 22 page booklet of the Cathedrals of England & Wales has been stuck to spine edge of rear pastedown, this is complete but stitching is loose. Blotching to title page and pastedowns. Volume generally loose but Binding stretched but holdingcomplete. A Good copy.

Front board features four gilt coats of arms as well as a vignette of the Canterbury Cathedral, one of the oldest and most famous Christian structures in England. Boards are damp stained, rubbed, and bumped at edges and corners. Sunning to spine and bumping and rubbing to spine ends. Red damp stain to bottom corner of a few pages near the rear. Offsetting from pastedown and and some staining to to title page. Coat of arms of the city of Canterbury to title. B&W photos throughout. Tipped in errata to p. 9. Laid in ad for "The Canterbury View Book" and letter from the Mayor and President of the Chamber of Commerce presenting the copy to an unnamed recipient, as well as a bookmark from The Little Stour Books in Canterbury. Contents include descriptive articles on the Cathedral by former Dean of Canterbury F.W. Farrar, on St. Augustine's and St. Martin's Church by Charles F. Routledge, and others by Sebastian Evans and Francis Bennett-Goldney, former Director of the Royal Museum in Canterbury. Also contains a list of the Chief Events in the History of Canterbury to 1900, and a list of the Kings of Kent.
