These frontispieces have been neatly hand coloured by a former owner.The main contributors to this collection were Ann Taylor, Jane Taylor, and Adelaide O'Keeffe, but Bernard Barton and various other members of the Taylor family contributed to it as wellWith six pages of advertisements to the rear of volume II.Dated circa 1845 via the British Library.The collection saw some controversy due to O'Keeffe's complaint that she was not receiving a sufficient percentage of the profits. The publisher sided with the Taylor family. In the publisher's original cloth bindings. Fading to back strips, with light handling marks to boards. Volume I hinges strained but firmly held. Hinges of volume II strained, and a touch tender. Head of volume I front free endpaper removed Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages bright, with light spotting.
