Manuscript / Paper Collectible
Pamphlet. 12mo. Condition: Very good. A program for the rescreening of Birth of a Nation at the Baltimore New Cameo Theatre in 1958. The new print of the film was specially made for the New Cameo just after a 1952 ban of the film had been lifted- and was only shown for one night, presented as the last time the film may be seen due to it's controversy. The film was also the very first screening done at the New Cameo Theatre which would close the following year. A very special piece of American and film history in the beginnings of the civil rights era. The program is in very good condition, without any major creases and without any tears. The cover shows faint black scuffs, probably from poor storage underneath a heavier object. Corners very lightly bumped. Will be bagged and boarded.
