De gevestigde muziekindustrie staat op de achterste benen, de pers smult ervan en komt woorden tekort en de muziekliefhebber schaft ze in groten getale aan in boekhandels, smoezelige winkeltjes en op het Waterlooplein. Ondanks dat muziek een vooraanstaande rol inneemt in de sociaaleconomische omslag die vanaf de tweede helft van de jaren zestig in Nederland zijn intrede doet, blijft de opkomst van de zogenaamde witte plaat ? waar alles bij elkaar komt ? een onbeschreven hoofdstuk.
