This is only volume 1 of… a two volume work. This book covers Lincoln from birth through the majority of his law career. Beveridge, a former Senator from Indiana won a Pulitzer Prize for his biography of John Marshall, intended his Lincoln work to go four volumes, but he died half way through. Good copy of the first edition, The book has shelf wear, a little soiling on the spine and previous owners stamp on the inside front cover and the title page. 607 pages.
