Soft cover. Condition: Near Fine. 4° - 275 pp. German and italian text, copiously illustrated with b/w and color photo-reproductions. A fine copy. The first monographic Book devoted to the Swiss photographer Serge Libiszewski, better known as "Sergio Libis." After attending the Zürich Kunstgewerbeschule under the guidance of Hans Finsler and Alfred Williman and completing his first work experience with Heiniger and Muller-Brockmann, Libis moved to Milan in 1956 thanks to the encouragement and friendship of Max Huber. In the Lombard capital he worked as a commercial photographer in the office of la Rinascente, where he was distinguished for his outstanding creative and innovative abilities. In 1961 he opened a photographer's studio devoted to still life, portraiture, fashions and advertising images in general. His remarkable photographic campaigns commissioned by Olivetti, Pirelli, Alfa Romeo, Giorgio Armani fot Hitman and Prenatal are notable for their immediacy and striking freshness, with Sergio Libis working like a director on set. In the same year his covers for the magazine Annabella and its posters became the collective memory of an age. In the book are over a hundred large-format photographs, posters and an interesting selection of materials produced between 1956 and 1995, when Libis gave up his professional work. Also are photographic prints, vintage photos, and significant documentation of his collaboration with Giancarlo Iliprandi, Walter Ballmer, and the designers Roberto Sambonet, Richard Sapper and others. After teaching at the Zürich Kunstgewerbeschule, the Umanitaria in Milan and Palazzo Fortuny in Venice, Sergio Libis was also a professor of photography at the Centro Scolastico Industrie Artistiche in Lugano.
