Though sometimes classed as an "outsider" artist for his use of his own acute psychiatric crises as subject matter and his incorpor…ation of folk-art techniques, Hallmann was also a well-established art world insider: trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Dusseldorf and the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg, he would also go on to teach at the University of California San Francisco and the Braunschweig University of Art. HEIM, MIR REICHT'S was published just a few years before the artist's death in 1997. 9.5'' x 8.25''. Text in German. Original gilt-lettered black cloth. In Nürnberg Mitglied eines Künstlertrios mit Herbert Haberl und Bernd Wangerin. 1965 Gründungsmitglied der wandernden Künstlergruppe Hoffmanns Comic-Theater (darunter Mitglieder der späteren Rockband Ton Steine Scherben). 1967/69 Aufenthalt in den USA, 1968 lehrte er an der University of California in San Francisco. 1969 Aufenthalt in psychatrischer Klinik. 1970 zerstört er sein gesamtes bisheriges Werk. 1992-95 Professur an der Kunstuniversität Braunschweig.
