Contact seller5-star sellerFirst Edition. Thick Quarto. , xxx, 730 pages, title index, bibliography along with story descriptions. One of the most thorough bibliographies of early science fiction. It is fully comprehensive within its scope-that is, it sets out to describe every story in every English-language sf magazine published during the eleven years…in question. It covers the complete fiction contents not only of the three major magazines mentioned in the subtitle-Amazing, Astounding, and Wonder-but also of all the associated Quarterlies and Annuals, and of such minor magazines as Air Wonder Stories (July 1929-May 1930), Flash Gordon's Strange Adventure Magazine (December 1936), Miracle Science and Fantasy Stories (April-July 1931), and the sole British title represented, Scoops: The Story Paper of Tomorrow (February-June 23, 1934). It even details the contents of the first three issues of the pulp Thrilling Wonder Stories-the down market successor to Gernsback's failed Wonder Stories-in order to bring the narrative up to the end of 1936. One of the appendices, "Magazine Histories and Contents," gives very full publishing details of all these magazines, with individual issue contents, cover artist and internal illustrators' names, size, pagination, and much other matter. A fine copy bound in red cloth lettered in black, spine lettered in black. with its original glassine cover.
