Softcover. Condition: g. Folio. Unpaginated. Original decorative string-bound wrappers with title and Bodlander's signature in water color on front cover. Rare and fascinating artist copy depicting women selling their bodies for food or money in post-war Germany. It is illustrated with 5 original art works pasted on paper (2 in pen and ink and 3 in water color). Each drawing is signed by the artist and has a printed poem pasted on the opposite page (2 from Heinz Schneekloth, 1 from Johann Schöll, 1 from E. G. Schäfer, and 1 from Dr. Kallenbach). Eric Bodlander was a staff member of the Allied Control Commission in Germany and thus had a close look at the chaotic situation the civilian population was facing less than 2 years after World War II. Some age wear on wrappers with foxing and age-toning on covers. Some creasing and closed tears along edges of wrappers. Sporadic foxing along margin of paper (not affecting illustrations). Poems in German. Wrappers in overall fair to good-, interior in good to very good condition.
