Pamphlet. This is not a book. The gallery guide for an exhibition held at the Museum of Modern Art, NYC, November 20, 1992 - March 7, 1993. The exhibit --The Nara Convention Hall International Design Competition-- presented the architectural proposals of the ten finalists for a multi-use cultural facility in the Japanese city of Nara. The five winners of the open competition were Scott Marble and Karen Fairbanks (United States), Ryuji Nakamura (Japan), Bojan Radonic and Goran Rako (Croatia), Bahram Shirdel and Robert Livesey (United States), and Yoshito Takahashi/Takenaka Corporation (Japan). Also invited to participate were five architects of international stature: Tadao Ando (Japan), Mario Botta (Switzerland), Hans Hollein (Austria), Arata Isozaki (Japan), and Christian de Portzamparc (France). The winning design was by Isozaki. Essay by Terence Riley. Spiral-fold pamphlet; 10 pages; 10 b&w illustrations; 4 x 10.5 inches. Condition: Fine pamphlet.
