Jacket with light foxing, else crisp and bright with tight binding. In a half leather over yellow cloth custom slipcase, spine titles in gilt between four raised bands; chemise covered in matching yellow cloth: minimal soiling, The pieces are arranged in chronological order; the final four are dated December 1896.Bruant (1851-1925) was a French cabaret singer, comedian, and nightclub owner, credited as the creator of the chanson réaliste. In posters by Toulouse-Lautrec he is depicted in his signature red scarf and black cape.Painter and lithographer Louis Borgex (1873-1959) was close to Bruant and other Montmartre artists in the 1890s.
