Tanto s se privilegian las formas regulares como si se intentan evitar el manierismo y los caprichos formales, la real…ización de un proyecto puede conducir a una deformación de las formas o de las tramas geométricas que responda mejor a los diversos condicionantes que estructuran la composición arquitectónica. En un proyecto, la regularidad es siempre una conquista difícil aunque a posteriori parezca evidente. Asimismo, en ciertos casos la regularidad no es ni deseable ni adecuada, y son las formas deformadas las que constituyen la solución geométrica más apropiada a un problema dado. Cuando no son caprichos estilísticos, torpezas o accidentes formales insignificantes, ciertas deformaciones constituyen el resultado lógico del encadenamiento de un conjunto de dependencias o interdependencias geométricas, resultantes de condicionantes de orígenes diversos. La geometría encierra una función organizadora primordial en la gestión de las relaciones (o los conflictos) espaciales. Por tanto, el campo de la morfología es inmenso aunque actualmente esté poco desbrozado, puesto que el trabajo del arquitecto procede siempre por transformaciones de los conceptos de partida: no se puede mantener un modelo ni un tipo hasta el final de un proyecto sin alterarlo, sin moldearlo para responder a todas las exigencias. Esta técnica de adaptación, de 'conciliación', es sencillamente la 'composición'. Aparecido originalmente en 1978, este libro se ha convertido ya en un gran clásico por su original enfoque de la morfología. Esta primera edición en español va precedida de un prólogo y un preámbulo que sitúan la obra en su contexto, pensando en los lectores hispanohablantes y teniendo en cuenta los avances de la investigación en este campo.
