Hardcover. 150p., first American edition of this non-specialist compilation, entirely in English translation, hardbound in 8x5.5 inch bright red buckram boards spine-titled gilt. Perfectly sound, clean and unmarked, an as-new copy. Expect page-long evaluations of strengths and weaknesses as contrasted with analogs from European lit. One comment that struck us was that "Baudelaire and Dostoyevsky did this better", etc. The Asian Literature Bibliography series. The Asian Literature Program of the Asia Society.
