The earlier pair has scattered foxing and a faint early thin brown half-ring to outer margin, plus 3 sm. black ink spots to first page of first item (not affecting text), second pair a little better, half-ring still present and some brown marking to first page of first item. Author's dates: 1804-1889. The 'M.' initial is an abbreviated honorific, his forenames being Viktor Yakovlevich.
