First Edition
Unbound. Condition: Very Good. First Printing. Four page handwritten letter from Rev. Alonzo Bowen Chapin (1808-1858) to Rev. Benjamin Heale who was President of Geneva College, Ontario County, NY at the time. Letter begins with some thanks for Geneva College in helping promote the personal causes Chapin had on his heart. But the majority of the letter consists of Chapin's account of his liife, education and influences. It appears that he hoped that this information would someday be published as a biography. Chapin was an Anglican minister in the New Haven, CT area and wrote, "A View Of The Organization And Order Of The Primitive Church, As Presented In Scripture And History, To The End Of The Second Century: With The Apostolic Succession To The Present Day"; "Glastonbury for Two Hundred Years: A Centennial Discourse" (1853) which is an important genealogical work for that area; A review of Edwin Hall's "Puritanism not General Protestantism" as well as many discourses and published sermons. The letter was written June 26, 1843. Now stored open but with creases from folds and New Haven postal stamp on the back. A few slight nicks but overall nicely preserved. 11 1/8" by 9" when folded in the middle.
