Rowling. Die phantastische Kinder-und Jugendliteratur hat jedoch eine längere Tradition. Große Meisterwerke dieser Erzählform, zu denen Alice im Wunderland von L. Caroll, Peter Pan von J. Barrie und auch Nils Holgerssons wunderbare Reise auf den Wildenten" von Selma Lagerlöf zählen, fanden in Deutschland zunächst zwar nicht die gleiche Verbreitung, wie in ihren Ursprungsländern, bekamen jedoch im Laufe der Jahre einen Zuwachs an Popularität. Die vorliegende Arbeit verfolgt die Zielsetzung das Genre der phantastischen Kinder-und Jugendliteratur an Hand ausgewählter Werke im Kontext darzustellen. Um eine Vergleichsmöglichkeit zu bieten, werden zudem einige phantastische Erzählungen der Erwachsenenliteratur vorgestellt. Nachdem zu Beginn der Arbeit die Besonderheiten der phantastischen Kinder- und Jugendliteratur erläutert werden, erfolgt dann eine Untergliederung in Themengruppen mit jeweils ca. 3-4 phantastischen Erzählungen, die einander gegenübergestellt und verglichen werden. Zu der ersten Themengruppe "Abenteuerreisen in ferne Welten" zählt z.B. "Die unendliche Geschichte" (Ende), "Lippels Traum" (Maar), Sofies Welt (Gaarder) und Harry Potter (Rowling). Die zweite Themenbgruppe "Die unheimliche Begebenheit" umfasst folgende Lektüren: "Peter Schlemihls wunderbare Geschichte" (Chamisso), "Timm Thaler" (Krüss) und "Der Sandmann" (Hoffmann). In der dritten und vierten Themengruppe werden des Weiteren Werke von Kafka, Lagerlöf, Mühlenhaupt, Carroll, Hetmann und Tieck analysiert.
