First edition. 32.8 x 24 cm (12 3/4" x 9 3/4") wanted poster announcing the theft of a span of matched roan Indian ponies on the night of July 25th, 1856. The ponies are described as "About 13 hands high, Weigh about 825 lbs. each. Six years old. One of them is branded with the letter T on left hip an…d shoulder, and one white hind foot and star in forehead; dark and heavy foretop, mane and tail; mane lays to the right; rather slime neck and head; full eyes; a little shy; and tender on the bit. The other is very gentle; rather large neck and joles; dull eyes; dark and heavy foretop, mane and tail; mane lays to the left; hard on the bit, and has a small bunch on his back, caused by a saddle. Both trot and were well shod when taken. A liberal reward will paid for their recovery, and $100 for the conviction of the thief. Please preserve this notice for future reference. Address S. L.
