Bound in orange and teal cloth covered hard boards gilt text to the spine and a large gilt decoration to the upper board; in the original dust jacket which is un-clipped. A history of Peking enhanced with three lengthy sections of colour and monochrome photographs of the city by Brian Brake. Brake was a New Zealander, a Magnum photographer from 1957 to 1967 and is best remembered for his trips to China in 1957 and 1959 where he was given unusual access to photograph the country and many of those photographs appear in this book. Fine condition book in a Very Good jacket which has some edgewear and three closed tears along the top edge.
