D'origine américaine mais ayant grandi en Belgique, Bruce Lowery choisit le français pour écrire, en 1960, son premier roman "La Cicatrice" qui reçoit le prix de l'universalité de la langue française, décerné par l'Académie française. Il donne pour les "Cahiers des saisons" une étude tirée de sa thèse de littérature comparée sur Marcel Proust et Henry James.
